Search Tips

To do an advanced keyword search, type a keyword or phrase into the Keyword box (no quotation marks or + signs needed) and then click on the button for either Title or Text.

EXAMPLE:

If you type in “Civil War” in the Keyword box, the results will depend on your Word Matching selections. (The first phrase in each of the following pairs refers to the Word Matching pull-down menu; the second refers to the two buttons just below it.)

Use Any Words / Partial Word would give the most hits because results would be returned for any of the individual words: in this case, either civil or war. Also, because Partial Word was selected, you would get hits for any longer words containing civil or war such as civilian or warranty.

Use All Words / Partial Word would show only those product descriptions that have all of the individual words — in this case, both civil and war — and all longer words containing civil and war such as civilian and warranty.

Use Any Words / Exact Word would return results only for product descriptions that have either civil or war in them.

Use All Words / Exact Word would show only product descriptions that have both civil and war in them.

Exact Phrase would return results only for product descriptions that have the entire phrase civil war. Because it is the most specific, an Exact Phrase search gives the fewest hits.

If you want to refine your advanced search even more, use some or all of the additional drop-down boxes before you click the Search button.

Searches can also be done by Item # or ISBN instead of by keyword or phrase. Although our database contains only 13-digit ISBNs, you may still search using older 10-digit ISBNs. Our search engine will convert your 10-digit ISBN to the current 13-digit format.
