In the years preceding and during Jesus’ life, both Roman and Jewish authorities relied heavily on data gathered by informers to maintain order in the Holy Land. In this strangely intriguing four-part series narrated by writer/actor Tony Robinson, the security apparatus of a hypothetical 1st-century secret service equipped with modern technology is used to study the life of Jesus of Nazareth, a threat to Roman mastery and Jewish rule. Using new on-site archaeological evidence; expert commentary on ancient culture, architecture, and history; computer graphics; and beautiful aerial photography of historic sites, these programs chart Jesus’ life within the context of the turbulent political, religious, and social conditions of his times. 4-part series, 26 minutes each.
