The Sun is a dynamic body undergoing constant, violent transformation. This Science Screen Report explores the Sun’s multilayered structure, the forces at work within it, and the methods by which scientists study it. Detailing the activities of the SOHO spacecraft, the program also explains various solar phenomena: nuclear fusion, the release of neutrinos, oscillation of the photosphere, and the processes by which the Sun may have formed as well as those that will eventually cause its collapse. A viewable/printable instructor’s guide is available online. Correlates to National Science Education Standards. Produced in association with the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology and the Junior Engineering Technical Society. (19 minutes)
