Updated for 2008! Future car technicians need a rock-solid understanding of basic engine parts and functions. Using live action and computer animation, this video illustrates the operating principles of a four-stroke cycle piston engine. After an overview of engine fundamentals, the program provides valuable know-how on the following topics: Engine Block (cylinder block, cylinder, cylinder head, oil pan, crank case, crankshaft, and main caps); Piston (piston motion, compression rings, oil ring, and piston pin); Connecting Rod (wrist pin and rod bearing); Crankshaft (main journal, rod journal, TDC, and DBC); Cylinder Head (attachment to top of block, port, valve, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, valve guide, valve spring, intake valve, exhaust valve, head gasket, and valve cover); Camshaft (cam follower, cam in head or cam in block, cam journal, bearings, and lobe); and the four-stroke cycle (intake, compression, power, and exhaust stroke). Correlates to all National CTE Organizational Standards (including the provisions of the Perkins Act). A viewable/printable instructor’s guide is included. A Shopware Production.
