Trigonometric ratios and the Pythagorean theorem are used to calculate the unknown angles and sides of right triangles. The Cartesian plane and coordinate system are introduced, and the concept of placing an angle in standard position is demonstrated, showing the counterclockwise rotation of the terminal arm.
