The graphing of linear equations with three variables provides an introduction to the third dimension and the z--axis. Ways of plotting ordered triples are explored and developed, and lead to the sketching of planes in three-dimensional space. A system of three equations with three variables is solved and graphed in three dimensions. Examples of how three planes can intersect are explored. (10 minutes)
