This six-part series featuring vivid computer animation defines the line in terms of its vector equation. The dot product and cross product are introduced as operators and their geometrical significance is illustrated. The series then extends these concepts into three dimensions to discuss the vector equation of a plane. Systems of parametric equations are developed for both lines and planes. Several numerical examples are then presented, including the problem of finding the distance from a point to a line or plane and the equation of a line normal to a plane. The series concludes with an examination of various ways in which planes may or may not intersect. 6-part series, 10 minutes each.
